Why renders and photos are hard to tell apart: rendering got better, but retouched photos also trained everyone to expect surfaces without scratches or dust.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell if a product shot is a photograph or a CG render. Part of the problem is the quality of modern rendering. But I think there is an overlooked aspect. So many photos are “Photoshopped”. People have become accustomed to seeing perfect pictures…no scratches and no dust.
Photographers might want to leave some of the imperfections in their shots.
